As a member of BHID Group, we are dedicated to integrating sustainable practices into every facet of our operations.

We’re proud to be a part of BHID Group’s environmental initiatives and we believe these efforts not only contribute to a healthier planet but also enhance the value and integrity of our brand, appealing to discerning clients who prioritise sustainability.

energy Usage

Powering the Future with Green Energy

Brown energy comes from conventional fossil fuels, such as oil or coal. The combustion from these fuels releases harmful emissions into the environment. Renewable or “green” energy comes from clean sources such as solar and wind power that are more sustainable and are better for the environment.

In 2021, 100% of BHID’s electricity and gas was ‘brown energy’. We‘ve worked really hard to reduce our reliance on brown energy as quickly as possible.

By 2022 69% of BHID’s electricity was green or renewable and last year, we ensured that 100% of our electricity was from green sources.

WASTE MANAGEMENT

Leading the Way with 0% Waste to Landfill

We’re committed to reducing our waste and minimising the impact on the environment. One of our key goals is to send zero waste to landfill, which we are achieving by working with ACM, a company that specialises in waste management and recycling. By partnering with ACM, we’re able to ensure that all of our waste materials are sorted and recycled properly, rather than ending up in a landfill where they would take years to decompose and contribute to environmental damage.

The Greener Path Programme
We’re signing up to ACM’s The Greener Path Programme, an innovative approach to tackling business sustainability challenges. Taking a more holistic and strategic approach future proofs our business and optimises our performance.

COMMITMENT TO DO BETTER

Upholding Standards with Environmental Compliance

Our adherence to government-led initiatives such as the Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS), Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting (SECR), and Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) underscores our unwavering commitment to rigorous environmental standards and sustainable business practices.

By aligning with these frameworks, we ensure our operations not only meet but exceed regulatory requirements, reflecting our dedication to transparency and accountability.

Local Preservation

Planting Seeds for a Greener Tomorrow

Our dedication to ecological preservation was demonstrated through our recent tree planting event at Little Woolden Moss, Manchester, in collaboration with ACM Environmental. Together, we successfully planted 4000 saplings, marking a significant stride in our efforts to engage with and support local communities.

Little Woolden Moss, a vital peatland, plays a crucial role in storing CO2, making it an indispensable natural ally in combating climate change. By enhancing this unique ecosystem, we contribute not only to biodiversity but also to climate resilience.

ENVIRONMENTAL RESTORATION

Planting for the Future with Carma

Our partnership with Carma represents a significant step in our commitment to environmental restoration and carbon offsetting. We’ve planted over 1,100 trees already, meaning we are taking meaningful action to restore natural habitats and absorb CO2 from the atmosphere.

Looking ahead, we are excited to expand this initiative, with plans to plant approximately 5,000 trees over the next 12 months. This ambitious target underscores our dedication to sustainability and aligns perfectly with our long-term environmental goals.

Driving Change With Hybrid Vehicles

Our commitment to reducing environmental impact is reflected in our transition to hybrid company vehicles, achieving a remarkable 50% reduction in carbon emissions. This significant step not only shows our dedication to sustainable practices but also aligns with our broader environmental objectives.

By choosing hybrid technology, we are able to minimise our carbon footprint while maintaining the efficiency and reliability that our brand is known for.
